You can’t but help like such a maverick, something in the moss-coloured eyes, and the difference between him and the rest of the family making him sound like a human cuckoo planted in the nest. 

He became a short-necked, thick, muscle-bound youngster, a red-cheeked moss-eyed rascal who resembled neither his parents nor his brothers and sisters.
