How lovely this idea, a bird’s soft, sweet, seldom heard ‘under-song’.
Shhh! Switch off the music, the television, the radio, the beeping, blinking devices, and listen. If you can hear that under-song, you can hear the universe.
‘They talked in the under-song voices – which men seldom hear, they are so soft and sweet – while clinging to the unburst heads of the reed-maces.’
