A ringing sound to this French word. A flock, a swarm, a string, a torrent. My Harrap’s tells me of ‘une ribambelle de gamins’, a string or swarm of kids; ‘une ribambelle de jurons’, a flood or torrent of oaths. And ‘en ribambelle’ can refer, for example, to children streaming out of school.
