‘A pace of asses’ can be seen in a small corral in the centre of our village. The same collective noun applies to donkeys, and both groups can also be referred to as ‘a drove’ or ‘a herd’, but neither sounds quite right, and ‘herd’ sounds downright wrong. A pace it is.
